RIMS appeal

IMPHAL, April 2: The authority of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, is appealing to one and all not to vitiate the peaceful hospital atmosphere with various threats. RIMS had become the centre of exellence for diagnostics and treatment for the poor sections of the people since the quality of care is good, fees are nominal and easily affordable, stated a press release.

The release further added, the buildings are over 40 years old and as such these pose a threat to the staff, patients and others. Besides all these buildings, class rooms and hostels were constructed to accommodate just 50 students when RIMS was RMC. There is an urgent need to construct hostels for 100 undergraduate and 150 post graduate students admitted each year. The class rooms, laboratories and hostels cannot accommodate them now. As the building of the Out patient Department cannot cope with the ever increasing number of patients some construction works are going on.

The RIMS authority is seeking cooperation from all sections of people so that the poor patients who could not go to private hospitals could be attended to. The institute should be left alone so that the developmental works can be implemented in the larger interest of the poor sections of people, the statement added.
