RPF pays homage to April 13 martyrs

IMPHAL, April 11: With April 13 “Athoubashing gee Ningshing Numit” (Martyrs’ Day) approaching, the proscribed RPF today paid homage to the martyrs.

A press statement of the outfit has further paid its homage to those who have been disabled for life in their struggle.

It has further stated that April 13 is observed as Martyrs’ Day every year by RPF to commemorate an important battle and its main function is organized at Cheirao Ching where memorial tombs of the martyrs are located.

The brave people sacrificed their lives in revolutionary wars for freedom, T Leishemba, secretary publicity of RPF said in a statement on Wednesday.

It further said many valiant men and women have fought against the colonial rule of India and sacrificed their lives for the future generations by leading them to the path of freedom accepting the old thinking of our forefathers that says, “it is more worthy to live just for a moment with liberty than to live a hundred years as a slave.”

The struggle is still continuing for the liberty of the people following the path of those who had died martyrs, the RPF asserted.

It also blamed India for the present situation faced by the society, a result of the forceful merger of 1949, saying that to gain freedom from the colonial country India is the only way if the people of Manipur wants to live in peace and for this the RPF is resolute to waged war against India as the outfit believes that there is no other means except to fight a country like India by taking up arms against it.

RPF also accused India of being one of the cruelest countries in the world and said the country is not accepted by International Law and Covenant because of its communal policy.

Appealing the people to join the observance of Martyrs Day on April13, the RPF further appealed to all to stay away from all kinds of entertainments and grand feasts except religious ceremonies on the day.
