SEYO boys and girls face humiliating defeats

IMPHAL, April 19: The day ended not so memorable for both the boys’ and girls’ team of SEYO with both teams facing whitewashes in the ongoing 1st edition of the U-18 Boys and girls state level Hockey tournament at Khuman Lampak.

While the girls’ team was beaten by the ideal girls with a 5-0 whitewash in the first ground play of the day, the boys had to face an 8-0 beating at the hands of the Lizard boys in the second ground play.

Nirmala of Ideal played the nemesis of the SEYO girls to the hilt by finding the net four times while Ch Joymati provided another goal to make the scoreline 5-0.

Ideal girls were awarded four penalty corners, while the SEYO girls were awarded with just one penalty corners.

In the second ground match, L Mantosh of Lizard opened his team’s account in just the 7th minute of play, after which there was no looking back, with Lizard boys scoring at regular intervals.

K Boy ensured the win for his team with four goals, while Th Athouba and G Dingku provided one goal each. L Mantosh scored a braced.

A Mantosh and A Monu of Lizard while Ksh Rojesh and A Yaiphaba of SEYO were booked with green cards during the play.Lizard received five penalty corners while SEYO received nine penalty corners.
