UKHRUL, April 17: The four day 7th Annual Conference of the Tangkhul Naga Baptist Theological Association (TNBTA) ended yesterday at Sharkaphung village in Ukhrul district.
Located a few kilometers from Litan PS towards Imphal, the picturesque Sharkaphung village has about 100 households and a population of 606. The village lies in the southern area of the Phungyar block.
Over 134 theological students from both within the State and outside participated at the grand religion conference.
Renowned theologians, Reverends, Pastors and Church leaders spoke on varied issues.
Mention may be made of Mr. Somi Chithung, Pastor of Khamlang Baptist Church who spoke on the theme of Ordinance.
Rev E. Shaiza presented a paper on “Church in 21st Century” in Biblical context and the role of the Church in threshold participation for a giant leap forward towards the issue of “global warming’ caused by rapid depletion of the environment.
M. Luiram, former Executive Secretary of the Northern Tangkhul Naga Baptist Association (NTNBA) in his topic on “Bible Study” and extensively quoted the Sphinx riddle of the 21st century.
He also spoke on the relations between the Bible and ecology. He stressed on the need to combat the “people eco-cide” destroying the Ozone layers leading to Climate change so as the people.
Rev S. Kapai, Executive Secretary of NTNBA shared the views on his topic on “Ordination” (Biblical and Practical) with his thorough paper presentation.
Revd. Praise Zingkhai, Executive Secretary, Eastern Tangkhul Naga Baptist Association (ETNBA) spoke conclusively on the topic “Church and Social life.”
