IMPHAL, April 23: A 3-day festival of “Thang-Ta” organized by Kanglei Indegenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) was on Monday inaugurated at Lamyanba Shanglen, Konung Lampak here.
The inaugural function of the 3-day festival was attended by Dr T Meinya, MP, Lok Sabha; Prof RK Ranjan, Director, College Development Council, MU; Vedeshwar, Secretary, Manipur State Kala Akademi and L Rajmohan, Secretary, Board of Secondary Education Manipur as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
A Khongjom Day procession entitled “Athouba singgi Ningshing Khongchat” was flagged of by titular king of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba from Kangla which culminated at Lamyanba Shanglen.
A floral tribute was also paid to the martyrs of Khongjom Battle along with Pena, conch and Thang-ta salute.
