URP roars at AR photo collection drill

IMPHAL, April 18: The banned United Revolutionary Front (URF) today heavily came down on the Indian Army for taking photographs of residents residing in the surrounding areas of Loktak Lake, dubbing the process a new strategy of war.

The photograph taking process undertaken by the Indian Army is the first step of a psychological war that aims to make the people of Manipur suffer from mental illness, a statement signed by AK Pibarel, secretary information and publicity of URF said.

The Assam Rifles and Army have implemented their military tactics by taking photos and personal details of every individuals residing in the surrounding areas of Loktak Lake, URF accused.

Questioning the Indian Army and Assam Rifles on the forceful photograph taking process, the outfit said such act violates human rights and that the people should launch agitations to make the Army to return the photos.

On the other hand, the URF enquired whether all the social workers and elected leaders of the state are in hiding as the outfit considers that it is their responsibility to tackle such situation.

Asserting that sufferings of the people of Manipur as due to the colonial policy of India, URF further emboldened the people, saying they should not be afraid of pursuing their rights and that it is the right time to teach a lesson to the Indian Army by strengthening the unity and oneness of the people.
