IMPHAL, April 4: UTA Keishamthong claimed the Governor Taekwondo Cup 2012 for the record eight time in a row bagging fifty four medals which concluded at Indoor Hall Khuman Lampak.
SAI RC got the runners up title with 217 point while National Sports Academy, Imphal was placed on the third with 184 point.
UTA collected the winner trophy along with Rs 10,000 for its haul of 19 gold, 18 silver, 17 bronze for 400 point. SAI RC gets Rs 5000 for its 14 gold, 6 silver, 9 bronze medals while National Sports Academy, Imphal finished with 8 gold, 3 silver, 15 bronze medals in the meet.
The concluding session saw SAI RC and CTI Sagolband kicking theirs ways to three gold medals in various category.
SAI RC player O.Memi Chanu lay her hand on the gold beating Ch.Babyrose of CTA in the senior girls U-53kg category. In the junior boys over 78kg, N.Santosh Singh of SAI RC beat L.Roshan Singh of ESU to claimed the gold and silver medals.
A.Premkumar come up with the last gold of the day for SAI RC beating H.Rambo of CTA in the senior boys U-63kg while N.Deva Singh of SAI RC collect the bronze medal.
The sub junior girls U-18kg bout saw L.Rani of CTI Sagolband beat Milky of UTA for the gold and silver while H.Nirupama of UTA settles for the bronze. CTI Sagolband further makes inroads as L.Kheljit beat O.Loyalakpa of UTA in the sub junior boys U-21kg while Kh.Boynao of Naoriya and Th.Belort of CTI Sagolband took the bronze medal. N.Ganga Devi of CTI Sagolband claimed the gold in the junior girls over 68kg bout.
Mayang Imphal MLA Dr.Kh.Ratankumar Singh along with Moirang Kendra MLA M.Prithiviraj and Thanga MLA T.Mangibabu attended the closing function and later distributed the prizes.
