IMPHAL, April 23 (Newmai News Network): The Zeliangrong underground outfit, Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has clarified that the news item published in one of the local English dailies about the abduction of two vehicles (MZ-04-4909 & MZ-04-4966) by ZUF is false, baseless and intolerable.

Terming it as misleading news item in April 21 edition of a daily, ZUF clarified that the Front and its army wing Zeliangrong Tiger Force (ZTF) was not involved in the abduction of the two vehicles alleged to be forcibly seized from near Noney in Tamenglong district while coming from Jiribam.

The Front stated that ZUF/ZTF did not get involved in any anti-social activities as  the outfit stands for the safeguard of peoples, lands and natural resources – properties of the Zeliangrong, Inpui, Chiru, Kom and other kin tribes, without ill will against all other communities.

The news item is intended to defame the clean image of ZUF by those with vested interest, alleged ZUF, and demanded proof and proper evidence from the truck owners/drivers at the earliest, while appealing strongly that this matter be redressed/clarified promptly lest the individual(s) involved shall be dealt with firmly.

The ZUF/ZTF is for peace and communal harmony with mutual respect for all, it added.

It was also stated that “It is the slogan of ZUF/ZTF that all the peoples of all communities besides Zeliangrong, Inpui, Chiru, Kom and kin tribes to live together with mutual understanding and co-operation one for all.”

The ZUF/ZTF also congratulated the peoples` representatives who came out triumphant in the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly election 2012, especially the Zeliangrong Nagas, and expressed hope that the elected leaders would work hard to uplift the socio-economic, educational and developmental conditions of the most backward areas of Zeliangrong, Inpui, Chiru, Kom and other kin tribes.
