116 Battalion BSF observes Raising Day

IMPHAL, May 27: 116 Battalion BSF celebrated its 23rd Raising Day at its Tac Headquarter Loktak with DIG Angom Shamu attending the function as the chief guest.

The function was also attended by CO 32 CRPF Jag Mohan Bhagat, General Manager SK Chauhan, National Hydro Electric Power Cooperation (NHPC) and other distinguishes guests and dignitaries from BSF, NHPC and CRPF.

During the function students of Chingdompok High School, Heirok, who got excellent positions in High School Exam were also honoured by BSF. The DIG of BSF Sector Manipur has also assured the students to assist them in their higher studies.

The unit was raised at Dhublia, West Bengal on May 27 1990 and got the opportunity to fight militancy in Kashmir and North East as part of the border management on Indian borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh and have earned distinction. The unit also earned various gallantry medals and meritorious/ distinguished service medals.

Here in Manipur too, living upto its name and motto of “ Winning the hearts of people by heart and not by bullet” the unit under the energetic and dynamic command of BPS Chauhan, commandant, team of officers and untiring efforts of its Jawans, succeeded in home coming of 14 misguided youths, who had gone astray from the mainstream.

The unit also pays special attention for more amiable interface between civil population and BSF by conducting civic action program for better living conditions, education and empowerment of women folk.
