IMPHAL, May 13: The 18 Sikh of 9 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR(S) in conjunction with the Local Upliftment Committee, Thiyam Leishangkhong organised a friendly cricket match between troops of 18 Sikh Regiment and local youth of the nearby area under the sports leg of partners (Assam Rifles towards North East Regional Students) programme.
The programme has been initiated by IGAR(S) to bond with the Manipuri youth in the field of education, culture, sport and miscellaneous activities.
The MLA of Wangoi AC, Mr Lukhoi also participated in the match and appreciated the efforts of security forces in taking a major step to create cordial relation with the local population and wining their hearts and minds.
The cricket match was witnessed by a huge crowd of around 500 locals from the nearby villages, a statement from IGAR (S) said today.
