IMPHAL, May 22: ANM Nurses employed under the National Rural Health Mission, NRHM in the state have decided to call a cease-work strike from June 2.
According to a reliable source, the nurses are unhappy with the state NRHM proposal made by SPIP 2012-13 and 2nd draft regarding the percentage to consolidate and incentives and the lack of increment of their salary for the past 11 months.
The nurses were also enraged over the failure of the state authority to extend their contracts, the source informed.
Even though their contracts had not been renewed or extended since January 31, 2011, they are still made to attend to their duties, the source added.
However, the non-technical staffs of the NRHM receive normal increment in their salaries, the source added.
The nurses are made to go into the interior parts of the state where there are no hospitals or any medical facilities; however they are not properly consolidated by the state authorities.
The source further expressed, the ANM Nurses posted with the Sub Health Centres are sometimes made to work on Night duty at the nearby PHCs.
There are in total 436 ANM and 220 GNM Nurses with the state National Rural Health Mission at present.
