IMPHAL, May 12: The impasse between two groups of Chadong village under Litan PS of Ukhrul turned ugly today after the two groups turned to fist-fights at the Manipur Press Club this evening.

Some 30 Chadong villagers have also already dispersed to nearby villages fearing another bout of fighting between the two warring groups inside the village, informed a source.

A team of Imphal East police cdos and Litan police has already reached the village to control any altercation between the two groups, the source informed.

Meanwhile, at the Manipur Press Club today, the two groups entered into a free for all fist fight after both groups arrive for press briefings simultaneously.

Even as a group was preparing to brief the press on the ongoing impasse at the press club, the other group also arrived ready to present their side of the story as well.

Media persons who were present during the stand-off told the groups that both cannot attend the press briefing at the same time and that they would have to chart it out among themselves on who would conduct the press briefing first.

One representative each of both groups was asked to come inside the office of the AMWJU president and settle the issue before continuing with the press briefing.

The two instead of settling the issue started to grapple with one another inside the office.

The fight continued outside with members of both group joining in the fight before the City police OC Tejbir and his team arrived and pacified both groups.

The police team further escorted back the two groups out of the club premises towards different directions.
