IMPHAL, May 27: The state Chief Secretary DS Poonia will unveil the renovated statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Ukhrul town tomorrow, official sources said.
The head of the Gandhi’s statue was found missing on the early morning of April 15 last. Four individuals were arrested in connection with the incident, but now they are on bail.
On April 14, the four individuals involved in the offensive act were under the influence of alcohol when they turned the statue into a bull’s eye and played with it throwing stones at the head as if they were in a sharp shooting competition, revealed the police investigation.
The statue was later fixed after the incident.
