IMPHAL, May 14: A consumer today claimed before media persons that he found foreign particles inside a bottled mineral water produced in the state.
The water bottle is labelled as Evoke produced by Bisra Aqua Mineral Takyel, Industrial estate. It also has the ISI certification mark.
Meanwhile, the consumer who identified himself as one Thokchom Dhamendra of Heirok Part II produced sealed bottles of the said mineral water bottles before the media strengthening his allegations.
He said that he had along with two other friends brought a bottle of Evoke mineral water from a local shop at Nagamapal Kangjabi leirak.
They found the foreign particles only after they had emptied half of the bottle. Finding the foreign particles he complained to the shop owner who gave them some more bottles. All bottles contained the foreign particles, he said.
They took three of the bottles as samples and arrived at the Manipur Press Club this late evening.
Speaking before the media persons, he appealed to the concern authorities to look into the case.
He further complained of the Bisra Aqua Mineral Company’s failure to maintain the quality of the bottles. Citing that if the company is producing water bottles without maintaining its quality it could be hazardous for the consumers and as such the authorities should look into the case and take up necessary actions against the company if anything dubious is found.
He further expressed that the claim of the company of providing water treated through five steps of processing comprising of sand filter, carbon filter, reverse osmosis UV treated and ozonisation as dubious.
