Free eye camp at Ukhrul

UKHRUL, May 29: Over 60 Eye Cataracts including those of blind patients were successfully treated during the 7th Free Camp Care for cataract organized by the Leishiphung Christian Hospital, Ukhrul from May 23-26 last.

The cataract patients mostly aged people from across the district who attended the Free Eye Camp were treated at LCH by a team of doctors headed by Dr Kh Khamani Babu, Senior OS State Program Officer, SPO, NPCB and Dr RK Bidyarani, Asst Professor, JNIMS.

Treatments of over 60 patients of cataract cases were successful; some elderly patients who had lost their eye-sight were restored during the eye camp.

The programme was jointly organized by the LCH in collaboration with the Opthalmic Cell, Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur/NPCB (SPO) along with the CMO Ukhrul.

MLA MK Preshaw along with the TNBC Mission Secretary V Nganingmi and leaders from the tower ministry visited the camp and distributed relief materials to the patients.

Ukhrul District Council CEO Luckyson also donated a cash relief of Rs 10,000; Comprehensive Health Services & Research Centre supplied water facilities towards the camp as relief towards the service and Ukhrul CMO who supplied mattresses towards the patients.

In which the Superintendent of LCH Dr Angamla expressed deepest gratitude and appreciation to all who had rendered helping hands including Doctors and the Phungyo Baptist Church for whole volunteering works.

The Programme was inaugurated by B John Thangtin Khuma, IAS who is also the in-charge of Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner.
