HSLC topper appeals for a free education environment

IMPHAL, May 11: Little Flower School student Maibam Valentina secured the third position in the BoSEM’s HSLC exam with a 467 marks out of 500 and letter marks in four subjects. She also scored a 100 in Mathematics.

Eldest of two siblings, Valentina was born to M Victor Singh and Kshetrimayum Ratna Devi of Sangaipurou Mamang Leikai.

Talking to IFP, she expressed her expectation of being among the top five rankings and happiness with the result.

Unlike the topper though, Valentina would like to pursue her further studies in the state and wants to finish her HSE before deciding on her future.

Her father is an AE with the state IFCD and mother is a graduate teacher.

She further expressed that she took Social Science a little easily which became her eventual undoing; otherwise she could have topped the exam God willing, she added.

She normally studies for only about one hour a day during the initial months of her preparation but increased it to around six to seven hours daily as the exam appraoched.

She also expressed her concerned over the present law and order situation in the state and stated that there are lots of disturbances to the educational environment in the state.

She further appealed to all concerned to leave education as a free zone.

Her message to the other students appearing in this year’s exam is to be self-confident and hard working.
