IMPHAL, May 6: Apunba Irengbam Sagei, Manipur (AISAM) today felicitated Dr Irengbam Ibohalbi, MLA, Oinam constituency, Irengbam Hemochandra, PHED minister and Moirangthem Okendro, Education Minister at the residence of Irengbam Ongbi ibetombi Leima at Uripok Gopalji Leirak here.
Irengbam Lukhoi Meitei, President AISM presided over the function.
However,PHED Minister I Hemochandra failed to turn up at the event as he was engaged in another official work in Delhi.
The function was attended among others by Irengbam (Dr) Ibetombi Devi, Chairperson of the Manipur Women Commission and wife of the late Irengbam Tompok Singh, Deputy CM, father of minister I Hemochandra.
Giving his keynote address at the felicitation function Editor of Imphal Free Press Irengbam Arun said, AISAM is planning to bring out a puya on the Irengbams of Manipur based on the ancient chronicles.
The Irengbams has made various significant contributions in notable events in the history of Manipur since olden times,Irengbam Arun further noted.
Education Minister M Okendro said such gathering of the Irengbams is significant as it could make the youngsters to respect their elders and it would also help them in every sphere of activities.
The minister also suggested that such gatherings should also be organized by other Sageis in the state and if it is done so, Manipur would become one of the most self-controlled or disciplined states in the country.
