IMPHAL, May 6: The joint JAC for gangrape of Jangthaliu Kamei and brutal killing of Keisham Premila on Sunday has alleged that the four culprits involved in the gangrape case are likely go scot free according to reports received by it.

The JAC said L Rohit, one of the accused in the gangrape case, is a candidate who appeared in the last recruitment process of Sub-Inspector of Manipur police.

Condemning the state government for sluggish progress in the case, it further expressed apprehension that the four accused might be released on bail by bribing.

A representation in this regard has also been submitted to the state home minister to take stern action against the culprits and to terminate the two IRB personnel involved in the case, and to debar the name of L Rohit from the list of candidatures for the recruitment of Sub-Inspector, the JAC further added.

Meanwhile, the Naga Women’s Union, Manipur, Zeme Naga Council, Manipur, Rongmei Lu Phom, Rongmei Women’s Organization of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland today expressed unhappiness over the way the state government has been dealing with the delicate issues regarding the gangrape case of Jangthaliu and, rape and murder case of Keisham Pemila.

The NGOs in a joint statement also appealed the government to take up stringent actions against the culprits and fulfill the public demands at the earliest.
