IMPHAL, May 20: Manipur Men’s team lift the trophy defeating Orissa by 4-3 runs in extra inning match while Manipur Women’s team has loss against Orissa Women’s team in the 4th East Zone Softball Championship at Practice Ground, Khuman Lampak.
In the Men’s final match, Manipur and Orissa were level 3-3 runs in the allotted 3/3 innings. Later, in the extra inning Ramesh of Manipur took the home run, made Manipur win the game.
Earlier, in the first inning Orissa took two home runs by Chinmeye and Sunil. In reply, Manipur took the lead in the 1st inning with three home runs by Rajiv Lalit and Kiran.
In the remaining innings Manipur could not take any home run while Hemanta of Orissa made a home run during 2nd inning as level 3-3. Later, in the 3rd inning both the team could not make any home run.
Meanwhile, in the women’s final Orissa beat host Manipur by 6-3 runs. Where, Sucharta (2), Soniya (2), Deepanjali and Jyoti of Orissa made home and in reply, Priya, Karisama and Abi of Manipur made home run in the final match.
