Minister advocates hill-valley unity

IMPHAL, May 27: The state Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungjathang Tonsing said that sermons about the hill and valley unity will not serve the purpose, but it should be shown in practice.

Phungjathang who had visited six constituencies in Churachandpur district along with three MLAs from May 22-26 while attending the inaugural ceremony of a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Singhat said that all the communities in the state should live in harmony, but mere expression in words cannot be practical.

He added that he would try his level best to bring the welfare of the people of Churachandpur by consulting the state Chief Minister and MLAs.

The government has approved to set up another SDO office of Thanlon Division at Molnom including Konkap.

Phungjathang who is also holding the post of CADA and GAD added that he would take up necessary steps to increase the number of BPL card holders in the village of Behiang which has only four or five BPL card holders presently.

At the event, MLA of Tipaimukh constituency and Chairman of Hill Area Committee Chaltolien Amo said that he felt happy to be able to tour all the areas of the district and oversee the requirements of the people.

The MLA also assured the gathering that he would urge upon the government in bringing development in the district and sought the support of the people in doing so.

During the trip, MLA of Singat constituency Jingsohaoshu, MLA of Thanlon constituency Bungjanggin and Chairman of Churachandpur district ADC were also took part.

As part of the tour, medical camps were organized at various villages and medicines were also distributed to the villagers.
