LAMKA, May 22: Police have arrested a suspect of the Sunday stabbing incident in Churachandpur killing a student of Vision Academy.
According to a police source, the suspect is one Thangchinlian , 32, s/o Thawnzagin from Zoar Veng. He was arrested late last night during routine patrolling from Rengki Cemetry, police sources said.
It may be recalled here that an 18 year old Jacob Malsawmlien was stabbed Sunday last near Rengkai Government High School and succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.
According to police, Thangchinlian was detained at the police station for some time and was shifted to Imphal today for further interrogation.
Meanwhile, locals and friends of Jacob had imposed an immediate bandh in the area demanding adequate action against the culprits involved in the incident.
Jacob was stabbed by an unidentified person on Sunday night at around 9:30pm while he was going to his grandparents’ house to get some books.
