MOREH, May 18: Prime Minister Manmohon Singh’s advisor TKA Nair today visited the border town of Moreh and Tamu to prepare the ground for the ensuing PM’s visit.
Nair arrived at Moreh by helicopter today where he was received by a state team led by state Commerce & Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam and Tengnoupal MLA DK Korungthang.
Soon after his arrival at 11 am, the advisor inspected the Land Customs office at Moreh.
The advisor later on visited the Tamu Border Trade office on the Myanmar side and met with its officials as a show of concern to the improving bilateral trade relation between the two countries.
Guided by the Border Trade secretary of Tamu Ayeko, the PM’s Advisor conducted a tour of the markets of Tamu town.
He was accompanied by Director General of Foreign Trade Anup K Pujari, Officer Commanding at Ministry of Home Affairs Rajesh Kumar; Director Shephevile Kolkata, Debjani Roy; 25 BRTF CO, Mohanlal; DIG Manipur Police, Th Chandramani, CO 9 AR, Moreh Rohit Khare, SP Chandel, E Priyokumar, Adl. SP in charge cum Immigration Officer Moreh, M Mubi Singh, Principal Secy. Com & Ind O Nabakishor and other officials.
He also visited the Namphalong Bazar where he interacted with businessmen from the Manipur side.
Later on the PM’s Advisor convened a meeting with Indian traders at the conference hall of Moreh Trade Centre.
During the meeting the traders placed their problems before the Advisor. He assured the traders to look into their grievances.
Border Trade & Chambers of commerce Moreh secy, Surender Singh Patheja deliberated on the issues of electricity and telecommunication in Moreh which has affected the business in the border town.
