IMPHAL, May 21: The JAC formed in the Puspa Basnet killing case today staged a sit in protest at Kanglatongbi Bazar and organized a rally later in the evening.
Both the sit in protest attended by womenfolk of the nearby areas and the rally attended by students of various schools demanded swift justice in the Puspa case and stern action against the accused.
Around one thousand women of the area cutting across community lines were present during the sit in protest under the banner, “We want justice for Puspa Basnet”.
The sit in demonstration started from 10am this morning and continued till late in the evening.

He continued that the Chief Minister in a recent meeting with representatives of the JAC had assured to order a swift investigation in the case and to award befitting punishment to the culprit.
However, there has been no visible action taken by the government in the case even though the accused Ingo- alleged boyfriend of Puspa Basnet, is presently under police remand, he alleged.
He further expressed that JAC representatives will accompany the local MLA, K Devendro and meet the state Chief Minister at his official bungalow this evening at 3 pm. However, if the meeting fails to produce any positive development in the case, the JAC will launched its own course of action.
