IMPHAL, May 7: President Senapati District Students Association John today appealed to the state government to expedite the construction of the Multi-purpose sports complex at Karong, Senapati.
Briefing media persons this evening at the construction site, he said that the student body had inspected the site on April 20 and found the construction work to be way below expectation. The student body had as such issued a press release on April 24 questioning the credibility of the contractors and the concerned department, he added.
He further expressed that the work order for the construction of the complex was issued in 2007, and added, construction work had begun since 2009.
He added that even though construction had begun some three years back, the authorities concerned and the contractors have failed to complete the construction till date.
This also points towards the failure of the government to develop the hill districts, he lamented before the media persons.
The government seems to be busy siphoning off the money meant for development of the hill districts, he further alleged.
He further appealed to the concern authorities to complete the construction of the complex at the earliest without any more excuses.
