IMPHAL , May 27: Post seizure of 34,000 liters of kerosene by Special Intelligence Unit (SIU) from Khurkhul Makha Leikai last Thursday, the recovered consignment may be distributed to the public through mobile outlets.
Talking to Imphal West SP over the phone, K Jayanta stated that K-oil originally meant for distribution for Kangpokpi area and others is presently kept in police custody. He mentioned that the product which was used to adulterate petrol rightfully belongs to the public.
Accordingly, the SP has suggested the concerned officials that the seized kerosene after getting permission from the judiciary be distributed to citizens through mobile sales. “At present, there seems to be an acute shortage of kerosene in the state, so we are trying to do our best here”, he mentioned.
In the meantime, the three arrested in regard to the crime, identified as H Sagar, Singh,39, landowner of the adulteration site, Kaidem Hemchandra,38, also a landowner and driver of the kerosene tanker, Narayan Sharma, 27, will be produced before the Judicial Magistrate 1st Class on May 29. The three accused are on the bottom level of the crime syndicate, and the main culprits are still at large, sources said.
