Students protest at Keishampat

IMPHAL, May 4: Teachers and students of Shri Digambar Jain Mahavir School, Keishampat Kangabam Leikai  in Imphal West today protested against the filthy acts of one Kongkham Jadumani and his family residing near the school campus.

The teaching staff and students staged a sit-in to protest against Jadumani holding placards like “It’s an act of barbarism,” “We want to study,” “Loud noise is prohibited in public area” and “We want peace and justice.”

Jadumani is now deliberately playing music by using loud speaker from 10 am to 3 pm everyday disturbing the academic atmosphere of the students of Shri Digambar Jain Mahavir School and he is also upsetting the student community by indulging in unclean activities, said a joint statement of the teaching staff and students of the school.

At about 2:30 pm yesterday, Boy Singh, son of Jadumani smashed a window pane of the school and he also had an altercation with a girl student named Poireinganbi of Konjeng Leikai, Imphal West during which she received injuries on her left hand and her shoulder was also displaced in the incident following which the girl was admitted to RIMS for treatment, they added.

A group of teachers and students of the school went to the residence of Jadumani to reconcile but he along with his family chased them away beyond the residential gate holding deadly weapons like dagger, the statement added.

Another incident was took placed last year when Jadumani’s family threw dirty water over clothes belonging to the students even as the family threw large stones which smashed through the school roof, it added.

It added, such family which has been challenging the student community and violating academic atmosphere should be boycotted socially.

They also sought stringent action against Boy under law for injuring the girl student and that such people should be punished by the people and concerned organizations.
