Trinamool to take up Richard case

IMPHAL, May 26: Lok Sabha MP and North East in charge of Trinamool Congress KD Singh today expressed solidarity with the people of the state on the Richard murder case.

He criticised the state government for its failure to pressurize the Centre to expedite the investigation in the case.

Speaking to media persons during a press conference at the conference hall of the Hotel Imphal the Lok Sabha MP said that his party is with the state on the murder case and will take the issue to the highest level in order to find the truth.

He continued that the party will pressurize the government at the national stage to expedite the investigation by handing it over to the CBI.

On asked about the party’s victory in the recent state Assembly election, he said that the Trinamool Congress with seven wins had a respectable outing in the election.

He however added that the party was disheartened with the fact that its candidates had lost to their rivals in 17 assembly constituencies by narrow margins.

He further added that the people of the state have given a mandate to the party to become the leading opposition party in the state assembly and the party will not let down the state.

He added that the party will fully perform the role of an Opposition.

Coming to the issue of the recent steep petrol price hike, he maintained that since the issue is a national issue, the party will discussed it on a national platform.

The party has already led opposition to the petrol price hike with its allies, he said.

He also declared that the party has not proposed any name for the upcoming Presidential election.

The press conference was organized by the Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee.
