IMPHAL, May 2: The proscribed UNLF, RPF and PREPAK today dismissed the surrender ceremony held at the Mantripukhri IGAR (S) complex on April 20, terming the home coming ceremony as a `forceful surrender of militants` staged by the O Ibobi led government.
UNLF said it was totally wrong that 22 cadres of the outfit were among the surrendered as claimed by the government and further added that only seven cadres of the outfit who had already retired including three deserters were there at the home coming ceremony.
The three deserters are Ningthoukhongjam Nanao alias Namkhaiba (serial number 1640), son of Pulindro of Moreh Turel Wangma Leikai who deserted the outfit in 2009; Phundreimayum Wahidur Rehman alias Alam (serial number 2359), son of Nasir of Sora Karanchi Leikai who deserted along with an AK rifle on March 27, 2012 and Yumnam Korbas alias Cheithaba (serial number 2231), son of Ibomcha of Waiton Mamang Leikai who deserted the outfit in October 2011.
The retired cadres are Huiningsungbam Jiban alias Sanalemba (serial number 1772), son of (L) H Driver of Thinungei Makha Leikai who withdrew voluntarily in December 2010 as he suffered from Hepatitis B; Laishram Dhananjoy alias Heirakpa (serial number 1868), son of Chonjol of Heirok Part-III Ningthoujam Leikai who retired to look after his brothers as his parents died early; Pebam Gulapi alias Konseng (serial number 1739), son of P Tomba of Wabagai Thingel Leikai who left the outfit for personal treatment and Sarangthem Gogo alias Thawailemba (serial number 2021), son of Thambal of Toubul Mayai Leikai, now married before he left the outfit in March 2011 on account of personal treatment, UNLF said in statement.
RPF also said in a statement that the nine individuals who were among the surrendered with the government claiming that they belonged to RPF/PLA was totally misleading and that they were not actually related with the outfit.
It strongly reacted against the statement of Chief Minister O Ibobi who said that the desire of freedom movement in Manipur was because of `poverty and frustration due to marginal living` and rubbished aside as misconception of the CM.
Even though some armed groups are in peace talks with the government, the real revolutionaries are still waiting for the moment in silence when the India government admits its vices committed against the people of Manipur by threatening its sovereignty, RPF further added.
Saying that though a handful of individuals are attempting to drag down the people into a dim pit, the people should know that the real revolutionaries are firmly standing for them, it added.
In the mean time, PREPAK said the home coming ceremony at IGAR (S), Mantripukhri was totally `baseless and unfounded` and that the 14 cadres of PREPAK which the government claimed to have surrendered before Chief Minister O Ibobi have no any connection with the outfit.
Among the surrendered, some were enticed by Assam Rifles and took them away from their home on the pretext of providing jobs less than a month ago, while some of them were arrested by IOF while they were in search of daily wages before two-three months, PREPAK said in a statement.
PREPAK also rejected the remarks made by Chief Minister Ibobi during the surrender ceremony when he said that the armed struggle in Manipur was launched due to poverty and frustration over marginal living.
