IMPHAL, May 11: Umanglai Kanba Apunba Lup (UKAL) on Friday condemned the incident which occurred at Khurai Lamlong in Imphal East on May 9 last where police resorted to lathi charge on devotees.
Irked by the unholy act of the police, UKAL termed it “unconstitutional” and said such pangs of remorse and use of force by security forces during the holy ceremony may invite unwanted incidents, according to a statement.
It also threatened to go to the law courts to find ways to take up legal actions under the Constitution against the wrongdoers and stated that UKAL will submit representations to the Prime Minister, President, Manipur Governor, and the Chief Minister and home minister to order an inquiry into the incident.
