IMPHAL, May 7: The proscribed UNLF today slammed the state Chief Minister O Ibobi who has supported the controversial National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), calling him an “inconsiderate leader” towards his own people.

The UNLF said in a statement issued by its senior publicity officer, Ksh Yoheiba that Chief Minister Ibobi, who always seeks mercy of the centre and kneels in adoration of the CM post, is a leader who has the ability to sell Manipur.

Although the security forces is stated to be there to protect the people, it has tormented the people and indulged in numerous killings violating human rights under the AFSPA and such incidents are widespread since quite a long time, UNLF asserted.

Sharply reacting against the stance of the Chief Minister on the NCTC, UNLF further accused him of attempting to throw the people of Manipur, who have already been on a fry pan, into the fire.

The statement further dismissed the recent statement made by Ibobi in Delhi in which he said that it was necessary to set up NCTC provided it should protect people’s rights and that every intelligence be shared with the state.

UNLF further stressed on the people to keep in mind the intention of the state government with regard to setting up of NCTC in the state where the impacts of AFSPA have experienced for years, saying the new anti- terror agency is crueller than AFSPA.

The Non-Congress states have been showing stiff opposition against the NCTC, saying it would infringe upon the rights of the states and violate human rights, UNLF further added and said Ibobi has dwindled the importance of the people by supporting the proposal of setting up of NCTC which has a very close relation with the life of the people.
