IMPHAL, May 26: The state Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar today expressed his belief that the restoration work undertaken along the Pallel-Moreh sector of NH 39 will be completed by the end of May or first week of June this year.

He was briefing media persons at Chandel HQ today at the end of a two day inspection tour of Moreh and the Imphal-Moreh National Highway 39.

The Minister said that he will try to incorporate the 10 km long road stretch from Saivon towards Moreh in the State Work Plan for 2012-13 as it was not included in the Work Plan for 2011-12.

He however expressed dissatisfaction over the progress of work along the 30km road stretch from Lokchao to Moreh.

Elaborating on the progress of work the Minister informed members of the press that the road development work had been taking up by a private company Avantika.

He continued that as it seems that the work will not be completed before the advent of Monsoon, he had already instructed the company to mend only the potholes along the road stretch before the monsoon.

He also elaborated that he has already sent a work progress report of the road to the Chief Minister, urging for his attention on the issue.

The company authorities have also been asked to present themselves at the minister’s office for a meeting. He said he will apprise the Chief Minister on the issue personally.

Dr Ratankumar who also holds the Transport portfolio also inspected the MSRTC Moreh complex today.

He said that the government is planning to upgrade the complex into a modern facility.

Keeping the upgradation of the MSRTC in mind, the government has already informed the ADC to evict the illegal hotels opened inside the complex.

On the construction progress of the Mini Secretariat complex at Chandel HQs, the Minister said that 85 percent of construction work has already been completed. The Mini Secretariat will soon be inaugurated, he added.

Meanwhile, the 18 km long Pallel to Chandel road stretch was found in a deplorable condition.

When asked, concerned officials said that work for renovation of the road had already been handed over to the BRO in 2010, however the BRO has cited compensation problems and land acquisition along the road stretch for its inability to start work.
