IMPHAL, June 17: A combined Felicitation and Reception Programme was held today at Ima Panthoibi Lairembi community hall, Keibul Makha Leikai organized by the All Manipur Thanga People’s Wellfare Association, AMTPWA.
The programme was held to felicitate the newly promoted officers, successful civil service candidates, IIT/Jee, Ph D/M Phil degree holders and toppers of various exams including M.A./M Sc (first class Position holders, Gold medallist) and class X and XII Examinations, 2012 conducted by BOSEM,COHSEM, CBSE and others.
The function was grace by Thanga MLA, T Mangibabu Singh, national Awarde president AMTPWA N Chaoba Singh, Adhyaksha, Bishnupur Zilla Parishad T (O) Hemabati Devi as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
In his address, T Mangibabu Singh expressed the need and importance of education in the society and elaborated that there is a great difference between the illiterate and literate citizens.
He said that education is important and must be compulsory to all and as such the central government has made it free and compulsory throughout India.
He asked the local people to attend both private as well as public schools which ever gives better education for children.
The MLA encouraged the youths by saying that the present Manipur Education Department will take up new steps towards education and a large sum of budget will be sanction in the education sector for those who need help in their studies.
He concluded his speech by expressing gratitude towards the organisers for conducting such a great programme and congratulating all the 166 succeessfull candidates present in the function and encouraging the parents and guardians to remain supportive and encourage the youths in the field of education and development of the society.
