Biblical college in Ukhrul

UKHRUL, June 27: Dr. Rishang Keishing, Member of Parliament (MP) Rajya Sabha and Former Manipur Chief Minister of Manipur State had inaugurated a Korea based Catherine Theological College and Seminary, CTCS at Ukhrul (Hunphun) Khararphungtang, the first of its kind, a Bible College in Ukhrul.

During the inaugural ceremony of CTCS, 93 years old, Dr Keishing who is the oldest Political “icon” and dynamic Indian National Congress Politburo in his public address expressed joy and happiness to learn “the birth of an institution” where words of Jesus Christ could be learned and imparted at such a place as Ukhrul, the place where the Living words of God started first in the Christianity Era in Manipur State and continued to say that “There was a word, the word was with God and the word was God”.

The MP also said the words quoting from the Holy Book of Bible which determined that though everything in this Universe would vanish the words of God will remain forever.

Dr Catherine Lee a Korean female Christian Missionary denotes: the plan of the Project in Ukhrul is a God`s plan.

She said that she felt the vision and God`s inspiration for the Project the moment she had concluded her participation at the 100th Anniversary Conference of the Phungyo Baptist Church Women Society way back 2010 as the main Speaker.

According to her she realized though over 95 percent of the Tangkhul population had been evangelized, there was a lack of proper educational system and theological schools to train these Christians.

The function was attended by thousands of people including Pastors of various Churches, District level Officers including the DC Ukhrul, institutional heads and leaders of the Tangkhul Social Organizations.

The function was moderated by Pastor PBC, S Ayonsui, welcome note was delivered by CTCS chairman Swaraj Samuel Shimray, secretarial report was given by Ningmareo Shimray and vote of thanks was given by the CTCS vice chairman Mayopam Ragui.
