Body seeks government approval

IMPHAL, June 25: The Association of Guardians of Thambal Marik College, Oinam has on Monday threatened to take up various agitations if the government fail to grant approval on the formation of its governing body within June 29.

The term of the present governing body of Thambal Marik College had ended on October 31, 2011 but the state government has refused to take up necessary steps to facilitate the formation of a new governing body, N Indubhusan, president, Association of Guardians of the college, told the media at the Manipur Press Club here.

He said the government is yet to issue order to make it possible to form the governing body even if the procedure for the formation has been completed after selecting 11 representatives.

Thambal Marik College, Oinam in Bishnupur district which has 2000 students has been functioning without its governing body for a long time due to indifferent attitude of the government, Indubhusan added.

He warned that a series of strikes will be observed in Bishnupur district in case the state education Minister fails to issue the approval order within June 29.
