Bomb suspect arrested

IMPHAL, June 8: Police today arrested a suspected cadre of PREPAK (Pro) involved in the recent bomb blast at the Mantripukhri residence of the Managing Director of the Manipur Development Society.

The person identified as one Naoroibam Sanajaoba Singh, 35 son of N Chaoba Singh of Heingang Awang Leikai and at present staying at Chingmeirong Maning Leikai was paraded before the media by Addl SP (Ops) of Imphal West police Issac Shah today.

The police have also recovered the I10 car bearing registration number MN 06 L 4840 used during the grenade attack.

Briefing the media the police officer said, based on credible information about the presence of some members of the PREPAK (Pro) in the general area of Chingmeirong Maning Leikai and Kabo Leikai today at around 3pm, a team of Imphal west district cdo conducted a cordon and search operation and detained a person for verification.

Further according to the police officer, Sanajaoba disclosed that he had himself lobbed the hand grenade at the residence of Y Ningthem on June 3 around 7pm.

He further disclosed that the grenade along with a sum of Rs 10000 was handed over to him by an individual as instructed by one captain Chamba of the PREPAK (Pro).

Naoba further disclosed that he joined the proscribed outfit in the year 2010 through one Amarjit, 37 son of (L) Lukhoi Singh of Achanbigei and has been working under s/s captain Chamba and s/s surgant major Chingsanglakpa, he said.

The apprehended individual further disclosed that the bomb was lobbed for not responding to their monetary demands, he said.
