IMPHAL, June 24: The state Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and Home Minister Gaikhangam has left for New Delhi to sign nomination papers in favour of the Congress Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee.
The Home Minister also holds charge of the post of the President of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee. He is set to return to Imphal on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the state Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh is likely to skip the opening day of the 2nd Session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
According to a reliable source, the state Chief Minister in all likelihood will be attending the 61st Plenary Session of the North East Council on June 27 at Shillong.
Governors, Chief Ministers and Chief Secretaries from all North Eastern States and other officials and dignitaries are likely to attend the session.
Meanwhile, it may be mentioned that the 60th Plenary Session of the NEC was inaugurated by then DoNER Minister and Chairman NEC BK Handique at Parliament Annexe in New Delhi on June 16.
The state was represented by Governor Gurbachan Jagat and Chief Secretary DS Poonia in the 60th Session.
