IMPHAL, June 5: The third round today of the on-going 22nd Kh.Anou Singh Memorial State Level Open Chess Tournament 2012 organised by K wakeithel Chess Club ended with reigning champion Sarnoy, former champion Premjit, Gobin Luwang, Somorendro and Jacky jointly leading with 3 points each.
The top seed Sanjoy playing his favourite Sicilian Defence defeated his young opponent Pritamlumar
60 moves. Pritamkumar made a mistake in the 28th move (28 Bgl) and ultimately had to resign in the Queen-Bishop ending game.
At another table, former champion Premjit earned full point by defeating Nabachandra in 34 moves.
Dhanabir too beat Ningthem in 25 moves to be among the leaders and hope for a big cash prize.
