IMPHAL, June 13: The Governor’s Running Trophy (Best Entrepreneur’s Award) and AMEA Outstanding Awards 2011-12 were distributed on Wednesday during an award presentation function jointly organized by All Manipur Entrepreneur’s Association, Imphal and Department of Commerce and Industries, Manipur at Hotel Classic, North AOC here.
The awards presentation programme was jointly presided over by Gurbachan Jagat, Governor of Manipur and Govindas Khothoujam, Minister of Commerce and Industries.
The two awards are given to micro, small enterprises and facilitator for every year. For this year, Th Joykumar was conferred with the best Entrepreneur Award of the Governor Running Trophy; Mangsatabam Memi received AMEA Outstanding Award for best Woman Entrepreneur; Th Rakhesh bagged the AMEA Outstanding Award for Best Marketting and Sanasam Radhadamudor received the AMEA Outstanding Award for Best Facilitator.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Gurbachan announced that the Governor’s Running Trophy (Best Entrepreneur’s Award) will be given a cash award of Rs 50’000 from next year.
The Governor said entrepreneur development is an important key to economic development of a country, and that entrepreneur not only provide self employment but also provide job opportunities for others.
The new generation of entrepreneurs needs technical, managerial, financial and marketing skills to meet the challenge of the new world order to be able to compete, the Governor stressed.
He also asserted that unemployment among the youth and the resulting sense of frustration is a central problem in the country especially in the North East including Manipur where opportunities are limited.
Minister Govindas said people have now started to know the importance of small scale industries in the state but these industries are facing difficulties because of bad roads condition and law and order, and irregular supply of electricity.
Trophies, citations and shawls were also presented to the awardees at the function.
