IMPHAL, June 27: A combined team of CDO Imphal East and 18th Sikh Regiment under the supervision of M Rajen Singh, Addl SP (OPs), Imphal East and under the command of Inspector P Achouba Meetei, OC-CDO/IE conducted a search operation yesterday at about 9:30 am and arrested three active members of KCP Taibangnganba group, said a police release.
According to the release, the arrested persons were identified as Haobam Ibocha Singh alias Inaoba, 30, son of H Shamu Singh of Yairipok Khoirom Mamang presently staying at Kabowakching Khunou, Laishram Anjana Devi, 31, wife of Thangjam Rejndro Singh of Khurai Thangjam Leikai and Sanasam ibethoi Devi, 34, wife of Thamcha Singh of Thoubal Wangkhem presently at Nambol Kabowakching Khunou.
One mobile phone from the possession of Ibomcha, a photo copy of work order addressed to Ng Roshan Singh, contractor CPWD of Singjamei Changamathak from EE CPWD regarding the 100 bedded hostels at Sport Authority of India, Utlou and a detail profile of Ng Roshan Singh from the possession of Ibethoi were recovered, it said.
Three of them disclosed that they are presently working under the command of one self-style general secretary Taibangnganba of KCP-Taibangnganba group and they have extorted a huge amount of money from the general public, private, firms, govt offices etc, it added.
In another incident, a team of CDO Imphal East under the supervision of M Rajen Singh, Addl SP (OPs), Imphal East and under the command of Inspector P Achouba Meetei, OC-CDO/IE arrested one KCP (Lallumba) cadre from Pukao Terapur near LP School on June 25.
According to the release, the arrested person is identified as Putsangbam Leibakchao Meitei, 43, son of (L) P Amuyaima Meitei of Pukhao Terapur.
One 9 mm pistol loaded with two live rounds in the magazine and one mobile phone were recovered from his possession, it said.
On verification, he disclosed that he is an active member of KCP (Lallumba) organization, who took leave and left 7th Bn MR Campus located at Khabeisoi in the month of January 2012, it further said.
It also said that on further examination it came to light that Leibakchao joined the said organization under one self-style finance secretary Athokpam Inaoba alias Johnny, 35, son of A Apabi Singh of Pukhao Terapur Dolithabi Parking of KCP (Lallumba) since the month of January 2012 itself.
He started extorting money from several persons, firms etc as instructed by Johnny and on May 27 an unknown person, who identified himself as a person sent by Johnny handed over him the above mentioned arm and ammunitions, it added.
