IMPHAL, June 24: A grand reception was held today to honour the Manipur Team which had won the National Women’s Team title in the 36th National Arm-wrestling Championship 2012 held at Aizawl. It was organized by Manipur Arm-wrestling Association at Manipur Olympic Bhavan, Khuman Lampak.
Ambrabati won Champion of Champions in the senior girl’s category, Aruna won Champion of Champions in the junior girl’s category and Sarat won Champion of Champions in the master group category.
Speaking at the function O Joy, Ex-MLA and Senior MPP leader, said that former Mr India Meipak was appointed as a Traffic constable by the state government because of his qualification, but on the other hand Punjab Government appointed former Athlete Milkha Singh, who studied upto 4th standard only, as a Deputy Director and Shot Putter Pavan Kumar was also offered the post of Deputy Commissioner of CRPF.
Chief Guest of the function Works Miniter Kh Ratan said, we need to change the view of the mainland people towards us and instead of shouting here we need to approach the PM and Union Sports Minister in this regard. He has also promised to give his full co-operation to persuade the matter.
