Karnataka CM assures justice

IMPHAL, June 5: The Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda has promised the Bhartiya Janata Party Manipur State Unit President Shantikumar Sharma that the government would bring justice to the alleged murder of Loitam Richard and has handed over the investigation to a special unitof the state CID.

In a meeting Karnataka CM, Sadananda Gowda told Sharma, “The state is not involved in the case as the culprits and the victim of the case are outsiders. However, the government will do at its best to do justice without any impartiality.”

Speaking to IFP the state BJP President said he had met the Chief Minister and Home Minister R Ashok.

He also informed that the Karnataka DG and IGP Lalrokhuma Pachau is likely to meet Manipuri students in the state to discuss about the case and to discuss other issues confronting by the north east people in Karnataka.

Speaking out against the ban on political parties in the state by Manipur students’ organizations Shantikumar said “such a move is anti social” and it might turn into an anti Indian movement.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has issued an official order to hand over the case of Richard to the CID Special Unit for probe.

The state unit BJP president is now camping in Bangalore in connection with the alleged murder case of Richard since for the last couple of weeks. He said the copy of the order is with him.

Notably, leaders of six student bodies in the state left Imphal for Bangalore yesterday to impress upon the Karnataka Chief Minister to hand over the case of Richard to the CBI.

Richard, a student of NRV School of Architecture, Chikkabanavara in Bangalore was found dead in hostel room on April 18 last allegedly after being beaten up by his seniors.
