IMPHAL, June 26: The Mate Tribe Union convened a press briefing and announced that the union will be compelled to take up agitations in the state unless the government blacklist the Mate Tribe Council and suspend Commissioner Income tax IRS LD Mate within one week.
Speaking to media persons, MTU vice president, KS Mate alleged that even as the MTU was preparing to celebrate the recognition of the Mate tribe among the Schedule Tribe of India, the MTC filed a civil suit with the Imphal East civil Court against the celebration due to which the court issued an interim order barring all the Mates from celebration.
He further alleged that the organization belongs to the family of LD Mate and that it is headed by his elder brother LN Mate and his wife L Lamneihoi Mate.
Reacting on the issue, the Mate Tribe Union has appealed to the government to blacklist the NGO and to take appropriate action against the officer and clarify on why the Mate people cannot celebrate the tribe recognition and express happiness.
