IMPHAL, June 2: The Maoist Communist Party, Manipur (MCP) on Saturday said Khundrakpam Bhogeshwor, son of Kh Khamba of Langol Game Village Zone-2, is now in its custody safe and sound and that he would be released very soon.

In a statement signed by MCP Publicity and Propaganda secretary Nonglen Meitei said, Bhogeshwor is now in its custody for interrogation on a recent incident that took place at Langol.

It has been discovered that Bhogeshwor is innocent but he was involved in a plot to forcibly drive out one Leishangthem ongbi Basanti from her husband’s house in cahoots with her step-son Leishangthem Naobi, son of L Inaoton, MCP said.

It said Inaoton, a resident of Langol Game Village, is a traitor who deserted a particular militant group. Although Basanti had categorically told MCP that Bhogeshwor is innocent, Naobi and his supporters are still defying its notice to clarify on the incident.

The matter should have been clearer if they had made clarification within the time given by MCP but now it will not accept further appeals from them, the militant outfit warned.

MCP said it has also learnt that Naobi attempted to drive out her step-mother from the house after a family feud over property. A civilian can be forgiven for his mistakes but a deserter of a militant outfit will not be taken lightly for his wrongdoings, MCP insisted.
