IMPHAL, June 4: Newly appointed president of the Manipur Peoples’ Party Sanasam Umananda Singh said today that diminishing spirit of regionalism among members of the party has led to some of them leaving the party.
The newly appointed party president was speaking to media persons in a press briefing soon after his induction as the party president.
Umananda who will hold the post for three months said that he will try his level best to strengthen the party’s units, bases and branches and to work in an amicable environment with the other organizations.
Safeguarding the Manipur integrity will be the party’s main objective, he continued.
The party will also invite intellectuals of the state including college lecturers, MU professors, social activists, editors, lawyers among others and hold seminars in the party office in a bid to strengthen the party and motivate its members.
The party will support social agitations in the state, he said. The party will also start a monthly publication, he said.
The newly inducted MPP president also lauded Md Ismat for his feat of topping the CBSE class XII exam.
