JIRIBAM, June 18: The Imphal-Jiribam National Highway 37 which had remained cut off since June 16 due to severe landslide at several places including Nung dolan in between Shanti Khunou and Barak Bridge in the intervening night of June 15 and 16 was opened for passage of light vehicles today evening.
Sources said that on June 17, BRTF used explosives to clear large rock boulders from the spot and clear it for vehicle passage.
According to reports received by the media some labourers were also hurt during the explosions, the source added.
In any case the road will be opened for light vehicle passage by June 19, the source added.
Reports also said that due to the closure of the highway, several vehicles have remained stranded along the highway.
