IMPHAL, June 22: The Pangal Students Organization has banned a General Knowledge school textbook for Class 0 published by the Prime Publication and written by S Babyla Jassal containing a false image of Prophet Mohammud.

The student body later announced its decision to ban all books written by S Babyla Jassal immediately and further warned of stern action against the writer in case the writer fail to clarify on the said issue before the end of three days from today.

The picture of the prophet is carried inside the chapter Indian Deities on Page 51 of the said book.

Speaking to media persons this evening at their office at Hatta Golapati, spokesperson and chief advisor of the organization Y Hayattur Rahman said there is no known picture of the Prophet anywhere in the world.

He further asked the writer and the publication house to clarify on how and from where they found the picture.

He also announced the ban and action against the writer and the said book.

He said the student organization will collect the books and consigned the books to fire.

The Pangal Political forum, Manipur (PPF) further said the ‘Prime General Knowledge Book-O’ published by Prime Publication has insulted the Muslim community.

PPF said in a statement that illustration of a false photo of Prophet Muhammad on the page number 51 of the book written by S Babyla Jaysal is nothing other than an insult to the young students, Muslim and their Islamic Law.

It also stressed that nobody in the world has ever able to make the photo of Prophet Muhammad, saying any one in this world has not possessed His photo nor there is any fact available in the holy Kuran regarding leftover of it.

The Islamic Law at the same time says no Muslim man and woman should take their photo if the need is not arisen, PPF noted.

Asking the genuineness of the photo of Prophet Muhammad depicted on the book by S Babyla Jaysal, PPF questioned as to why the state Education Department or Board/Council did not consider the authenticity of the photo before publication.

Saying that the state government should ban the book to avoid unwanted incidents in future, PPF drew the attention of the Chief Minister and the Education Minister intervene the matter.
