IMPHAL, June 15: A man whose NSA detention was revoked by the concerned authorities and whose release was ordered by CJM Senapati remained traceless, according to his mother.
Speaking to media persons at the Manipur Press Club, Modhu mother of Ngangom Soviet alias Chingkheinganba, 35 of Napetpalli said her son had been serving his sentence at the Sajiwa Central Jail after his arrest from Jugindro Nagar, Tripura as a KCP (MC) militant on August 7, 2011.
He was arrested by a combined team of Assam Rifles and Tripura Police.
She continued that Soviet was brought back to Imphal on August 15 and charged with 15 separate cases, five cases at the CJM, Imphal East, six cases at the CJM, Imphal West and one case each at JMIC, Imphal East and CJM, Senapati.
Further elaborating, she said that the last of the 15 cases was heard at the CJM, Senapati on June 13.
She added, “Soviet’s NSA detention had already been revoked by the concerned authorities”.
During his ruling in the last case on June 13, CJM, Senapati had ordered Soviet’s release, she added.
Following the lower court ruling, she said her family went to the Sajiwa Jail gate and waited till 9pm of the same day for his release.
However, when asked, the jail authorities asked the family to come the next day at 11am, she continued.
She said, the next day on June 14, even as the family was waiting for his release at the jail gate, the Jail SP in charge Phanit Thanga handed over Soviet to a team of Imphal East cdos.
The family followed the Cdo team who went to the Imphal East SP complex, Porompat and waited at the gate.
After about half an hour, Soviet was again handed over to the 30th Assam Rifles, Mantripukhri team who had arrived at the SP complex, she alleged.
After that, her son has remained traceless, she further alleged.
