PREPAK for cut in doctor fees

IMPHAL, June 11: The proscribed PREPAK has urged upon all the medical doctors in the state to slash treatment fees, saying that patients always wait for their sympathy.

In a statement, Leibakngakpa Luwang, assistant secretary of publicity and propaganda, PREPAK also appealed all the private clinics/hospitals to reduce charge for all kinds of clinical investigation tests.

All the private hospitals in the state should not conduct abortions for a few rupees and all the government doctors will not be allowed to set up private hospitals and practice their professions, PREPAK said.

In a stern warning, PREPAK also said that all the employees of the state Health Departments, Family Welfare, JNIMS and RIMS should not compromise the quantity and quality of medical items and other equipments for hospitals in cahoots with suppliers or contractors.

PREPAK also expressed sincere confidence that the public and those who are working in health sector will cooperate with the move of the outfit whose main objective is to bring welfare of the people.

The statement said PREPAK will start keeping a close eye on all the doctors who fail to maintain medical ethics and to take heed on the notice of the outfit from June 25 onwards. Also, those doctors who want to take the notice should inform to the outfit, the statement added.
