IMPHAL, June 18: Trading allegations with the man claiming ownership of land patta no 69 of Nagaram, the Nagaram Village Authority, Nagaram Youth Club and local meira paibis today convened a press conference at the local community hall.

Speaking at the conference, Nagaram Youth Club, secretary Benjamin asserted that Ksh Basanta of Thangmeiband Leirihenjaba Leikai ownership claim over the land is false..

He said the allegation of trespassing against Heingang MLA N Biren is also baseless and unfounded.

Elaborating on Basanta’s allegation of the MLA leading a mob to tear down a board at the disputed site, he asserted that on June 16 the locals had conducted a social service as part of maintaining a green park.

He added that MLA N Biren was extended an invitation. MLA Biren had only arrived at the locality to inspect the social service and could not be blamed or held responsible for any trespassing or illegal act, he said.

However, locals who found the board at the said site tore it down, he said.

He continued that the said land strip measuring 3.82 acres was declared as the reserved Green Park in 2006 by the then Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East, KK Chhetry.

He has further urged the government to bring a solution to the said impasse.
