7 demands of Rs. 976 crores passed

    IMPHAL, July 9: Altogether seven demands of Rs. 976, 04, 58,000 for various departments of the state government have been passed unanimously by the State Assembly today.

    The seven demands were Community Development and ANP, IRDP and NREP of Rs. 216, 92,62,000; Power of Rs. 508, 25,55,000; Youth Affairs and Sports Department of Rs. 66,62,40,000; Minor Irrigation Department of Rs. 112, 63,04,000; Minorities, Other Backward Classes and Scheduled Castes Department of Rs. 47,91,18,000; Economics and Statistics Department of Rs. 12,74,08,000 and Information Technology of Rs. 10,95,71,000.

    Opposition MLAs Dr I Ibohalbi, L Ibomcha, P Brojen, Kh Joykishan and Th Shyamkumar raised cut motions while Chief Minister Okram Ibobi presented these demands in the House.

    Chief Minister Okram Ibobi who is also in-charge of the finance department clarified to all cut motions raised by the opposition MLAs. The motions were subsequently withdrawn and all seven demands were passed unanimously in the House.

    Ruling MLAs Z Kikhonbou Newmai, K Meghachandra, T Mangibabu and Ng Bijoy also placed their observations on the demands while participating in the deliberations.
